The controlVUE is the data-acquisition and control device for the CrossTalk Platform. It connects directly to an RS-485 network and an Ethernet local area network. It functions as a web server, OPC server, scheduler and has protocol-specific expert systems. The expert systems automatically discover each controller on the RS-485 network. All exposed inputs, outputs, variables, names and engineered units are discovered and automatically mapped and made ready for transport via Ethernet or internet. There is no mapping required - network databases are compiled in seconds, not hours.
WEB SERVER
controlVUE acts as a web server for its network of connected controllers. All point data can be viewed using standard web browsers. All web pages are automatically generated and include English descriptors, labels, engineering units and point values. controlVUE web pages are used to configure all available controller parameters and operating modes.
OPC SERVER
controlVUE acts as a data server to CW Industries' OPC Server which converts controller point data into OPC-compliant data. This gives you full control of all points via the industry-standard OPC interface. All OPC points include device names, point descriptors, labels and engineering units as read from the controllers. The OPC Server supports analog (IEEE floating-point format) and digital (on/off) data types. OPC tag names are automatically created using the controlVUE name (specified during configuration), the controller address, the point type (input, output or variable) and the point number. If anything changes on the controller, controlVUE will notify the OPC Server which then requests the changes and updates its database automatically.
SCHEDULER
Each controlVUE has four internal time schedules with eight on/off entries each. These schedules are defined using the controlVUE Schedule web page. Once defined, controlVUE monitors each schedule and updates its status based upon the time-of-day and day-of-week. controlVUE outputs and variables can be assigned or bound to schedules for local time-of-day point control. Schedule values can also be read via the OPC Server and used to control other OPC points across the database.
